- Late Story (not in audio file): The Idaho Transportation Department issued permits for the first two 24-foot wide Exxon-Mobil Tar Sands shipments to travel on U.S. 95 starting Monday, June 27th at 10 pm. A press release from the ITD says one of the loads will weigh 410,300 pounds, including the truck and trailer. Exxon-Mobil had said earlier the split-megaloads would weigh up to 378,000 pounds. The second travel permit is for a 14 foot wide load that will be allowed to travel during the day. The release says future loads, for which permits have not yet been issued, will be up to 432,721 pounds. The first load should arrive in Moscow at about 1 a.m., Tuesday, June 28th, and will be scheduled to travel to a point near the Benewah County Line, and proceed to a point east of Couer d’Alene the second night.
