        Call for artists: The 1912 Center and Heart of the Arts theme for the Winter Hallway Show is “This and That”. Original pieces of art will be accepted at the 1912 Center on January 30th. For more information call 208-669-2249 or go to 1912center.org. This show will open with a fun family event on February 3rd.

        The Dahmen Barn in Uniontown, Washington is looking for artists who work with found objects for the 6th Annual Art Demonstration Day April 14th . The theme will be art from found or repurposed materials of any type, decorative or functional. Artists will be onsite to exhibit and demonstrate their work.         The Moscow League of Women Voters continue their weekly presentations Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in the Fiske Room at the 1912 Center. February 1st University of Idaho Child Development Laboratory Director Suzanne Planck will discuss the “Willow Center” a new grief and loss group for children and families on the Palouse. February 8th Margrit Von Braun will present “Terragraphics Cleanup of the Lead Poisoning Epidemic in Zamfara, Nigeria”. The public is welcome to attend.

        Planned Parenthood Votes Northwest has several important events coming up.

        January 28th join Planned Parenthood and Add the Words Idaho Campaign in a statewide day of action to support an amendment to the Idaho Human Rights Act. This amendment would include protection against discrimination in areas of employment, housing, education and public accommodation. Rallies and vigils are planned.

        February 20th is Reproductive Health and Rights Lobby Day and you can participate as a citizen lobbyist; Planned Parenthood will provide the training you need to make your voice effectively heard to our elected officials in Boise.

        The next Washington Idaho Symphony concert performance “Red White and Blue” is Saturday January 28th at 7:30 p.m. in the Gladdish Center in Pullman, Washington. This concert features work from composer in residence Ryan Hare, as well as Aaron Copeland and Young Artist Competition Winners. You can also enjoy this performance on Sunday January 29th at 3p.m. at Clarkston High School. For ticket information go to idahowashingtonsymphony.org

        The 45th Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival happens February 22nd through the 25th on the University of Idaho campus. Volunteers are needed to help with the festival; if interested email jazzvolunteer@uidaho.edu. Ticket information for the Jazz Festival call 208-885-7212 or email tickets@uidaho.edu.

                    The 1912 Center and Heart of the Arts, Inc theme for the 2012 Winter Hallway Show is “This and That”. Original pieces of art that feature something that goes with something else will be accepted at the 1912 Center on January 30th. For more information call 208-669-2249 or go to www.1912center.org. This show will open with a fun family event on February 3rd.

                    The theme for the Arts and Travel Exhibit sponsored by the City of Moscow and The Moscow Arts Commission is “Travel destinations near and far”. Original work in painting, photography and drawing or sketch will be considered. Applications are due January 23rd and may be picked up at Moscow City Hall or email djscallorn@ci.moscow.id.us The show will begin February 3rd and run through March 23rd.

                    The Auditorium Chamber Music Series presents the Ying Quartet January 26th at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Idaho Administration Auditorium. Tickets may be purchased at the Prichard Gallery in downtown Moscow or online at auditoriumchamermusic.org

                    Heart of the Arts Winter Market is happening this Saturday January 21st form 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 1912 Center. The market will feature arts and crafts vendors, food items for lunch, and a free children’s art activity. Be sure to stop by the KRFP booth while at this Saturday’s Market.
