    Summer 2017 Schedule

    ________________________________________________________________________

At about 2:40 pm Monday, August 7th, during a broadcast of the song “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” KRFP’s ENGINEER DAVE WILLARD turned up our signal to 1100 watts! This upgrade from a low-power f.m. Station broadcasting from an antenna on the roof of the Anderson Building in downtown to a full signal broadcaster in the region began 10 years ago, when Radio Free Moscow, incorporated decided to invest a few thousand dollars in engineering studies to apply for a full-power broadcast frequency. Krfp increased its FM signal range in two major steps, first moving its broadcast antenna to paradise ridge with a 42 watt signal in 2013. Last week KRFP brought a new transmitter and directional antenna on line and began broadcasting at 550 watts program test authority.

Today (Monday, AUGUST 7), the federal communications commission issued a “License to Cover” for krfp, which is the license to broadcast at 1100 watts with a carefully aimed directional antenna located on the Idaho Public Television tower on paradise ridge.

The signal is much better to the west, north and east compared to the old 42 watt signal. It is also better on most compass points to the south, but not in the direction of Clarkston, which is our antenna “null.”

Because of the increase in power, the KRFP signal is expected to most improve for radios located inside buildings.

We look forward to continue to bring you the best of community radio and to a wider audience in the years to come.
